Associate Professor of Linguistics and Translation at the Faculty of Letters and Sciences of Communication (“Ştefan cel Mare” University of Suceava, Romania). She is a board member of academic journals such as Atelier de traduction, Concordia Discors vs. Discordia Concors, and Messages, Sages and Ages, Meridian Critic, Anadiss, SUSh Scientific Proceedings (M. Nalbandyan State University of Shirak, Armenia), Issue B (Philological Sciences). She has been involved in various research projects, among which Cultural Translation (2012–2016) (http://www.traducereculturala.usv.ro/) and Translation History (2019–2025) (https://itlr.usv.ro/echipa-de-implementare/). She has published three books on translation matters (on Edgar Allan Poe’s translations into Romanian, on Oscar Wilde’s fairy-tales translated for Romanian children, and on writers as translators) as well as sixty papers on various translation- or linguistics-related issues.

Dr. Raluca-Nicoleta BALAŢCHI
Associate Professor at ” Ştefan cel Mare” University of Suceava, Romania, where she currently teaches French Syntax and Translation. She has an experience of 23 years in teaching French as a foreign language, Translation Studies, Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis. Her 2006 PhD research on subjectivity in French at “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iași was later developed into a postdoctoral research project on subjectivity in literary translation (financed by CNCS, 2011-2013, Translating Subjectivity, PN-II-RU-PD-2011-3-0125). She was also a member of 2 other exploratory research projects Traduction culturelle et littérature(s) francophones: histoire, réception et critique des traductions (2012-2016) and Metalinguistic markers (2021-2024), as well as a research project financed by the Agence Universitaire de la francophonie Analyse du profil de l’étudiant francophone en vue d’améliorer les pratiques didactiques des filières françaises dans la région ECO, (contexte roumain-ukrainien-géorgien) (2024-2025). She has authored a book on subjectivity, as well as two books in the field of Translation Studies, three translations (from French into Romanian) and over 50 articles on translation, published in Romania or abroad.

Dr. Daniela-Maria MARŢOLE
Associate Professor in English at the Department of Foreign Studies, “Ştefan cel Mare” University of Suceava, Romania and has been teaching and researching in the field of English linguistics and Translation Studies for 25 years. Having a degree in Romanian and English, she earned her PhD in 2015, at “Ştefan cel Mare” University of Suceava, with a thesis on the translation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth in Romanian. Since then, she has authored 2 books focusing on translation and culture (Shakespeare in Romanian: Macbeth, in 2019, and Cultural Transfer and Translation. Romanian Glimpses, in 2023) and some thirty papers on various topics, mainly in Translation and Linguistics, published in indexed journals. She is particularly interested in the way in which cultural, social and political factors influence the evolution of the language and the reflection of such changes in the language of the translations as well as in the production of literary works. She also has experience as a translator (she authored 3 translations published by national publishing houses) and coordinated the Master students’ translation of Mathew Arnold’s On Translating Homer, published in Romanian for the first time at the “Ştefan cel Mare” University of Suceava.
Doctoral Researcher
Anton ZAZULEAC
PhD student in Philology at the “Ştefan cel Mare” University of Suceava (USV), Romania. His research interests include Translation Studies, Linguistics, Discourse Analysis, Cinematography, and Audiovisual Arts. His doctoral thesis, titled Analysis of Cinematic Discourse: From Translation and Adaptation to Dubbing and Subtitling, focuses on multimodal discourse analysis in animated films aimed at a general audience, examining the translations, adaptations, and localizations from English into Romanian, French, Ukrainian, and Russian.
He holds a BA in Philology, specializing in Romanian and French Language and Literature (USV, 2022), and a double master’s degree in Translation Theory and Practice (USV) as well as an MA in Conference Translation and Interpreting from Moldova State University. Throughout his studies, he has been awarded several Erasmus+ scholarships for international studies and internships at the University of Białystok, Poland (2021), “Paul Valéry Montpellier 3” University, France (2022/2023), and the ALFMED Language School in Perpignan, France (2024).
He has participated in various national and international conferences and published several scholarly articles focused on the comparative analysis of audiovisual translation, multimodal discourse analysis, the relationship between image and text, verbal and non-verbal discourse analysis, and the impact of translation on refugee children.
Currently, he is an assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Letters and Communication Sciences (USV), where he teaches Romanian as a Foreign Language to international students.

Associate Professor, Doctor of Philology (“Alecu Russo” State University of Bălţi, Republic of Moldova), founder and editor-in-chief of the journal Limbaj şi context / Speech and Context – International Journal of Linguistics, Semiotics and Literary Science (2009–2025), B Category, which publishes works in comparative linguistics and translation studies; founder and director of the “Mircea Ioniţă” Laboratory of Comparative Linguistics and Translation Studies (“Alecu Russo” State University of Bălţi); director of the institutional scientific research subprogram 05.01.01: Cercetarea receptării prin traducere a beletristicii basarabene şi româneşti în spaţiul European / Research on the Reception through Translation of Bessarabian and Romanian Fiction in the European Space.
Her main research interests are Contrastive Linguistics and Translations Studies. Dr. Ecaterina FOGHEL
Holds a PhD in Philology and is a university lecturer at the “Alecu Russo” Bălți State University, Republic of Moldova. Her scientific interests fall within the fields of conceptology, philosophy of language, translation studies and psycholinguistics.
Her doctoral thesis was devoted to a transdisciplinary analysis of the concept of virtue in 20th-century French literature, a study grounded in her Master I and Master II programs completed at the “Charles de Gaulle” University – Lille III, France.
Her academic background also includes two bachelor’s degrees—one in philology and the other in education sciences, specializing in the Didactics of Biology and Geography.
At present, E.F. applies her multidisciplinary experience both in her university teaching activity and within national and international scientific projects.

Daniela PREAŞCĂ
Holds an Academy Diploma of Master in Public Administration (2012), Academy Diploma in Public Administration (2002), Academy of Public Administration under the Presidency of Republic of Moldova, a BA in Foreign Philology (1998, State University of Moldova). She is a teacher of French and English Language and Literature, a philologist, and an interpreter.
She speaks English, French, and Russian.
Doctoral Researcher
Tatiana BOGDANICI
Moldovan education professional, born on February 11, 1994, with solid academic credentials obtained from Alecu Russo State University of Bălți, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral studies in Educational Sciences and Philology. Her professional career is centered on teaching Russian language and literature at the Polytechnic College of Bălți, a position she has held since 2018. Her teaching experience also includes English, which she taught at the Center of Excellence in Services and Food Processing (2023–2024).
Scientifically, her current work focuses on the research of functional-semantic field problems in modern linguistics and in the practice of teaching the Russian language. She has presented papers on this subject at specialized forums, highlighting her commitment to didactic innovations and philological research. A future and promising research area involves the analysis of children’s literature translation. This field focuses on studying the translation dynamics among English, Russian, and Romanian languages, supported by a detailed project featuring translations of authors such as Rudyard Kipling, Lewis Carroll, and Alexandra Rusacova. This project reflects a valuable intersection between her linguistic expertise and the investigation of cultural and linguistic processes in translation.
The scope of this project is to explore the relationship between translation, semiotics, and didactics in the context of interculturality and glocalization. The research undertaken will enhance collaboration between researchers from Romania and from the Republic of Moldova and sustain the progress of younger researchers from Moldova. At the same time, the research might impact on the society at large. The objectives of the proposed research are:
diachronic approach
Making a reliable, updated corpus translated children’s books into Romanian after the 1990s, accessible on a platform by all the team members.
comparative approach
Identifying iconotextual specificities in children’s books translated from English, French and other languages into Romanian.
epistemological approach
Illustrating, re(de)fining and enriching key concepts in translated children’s literature, such as: adaptation, retranslation, dual readership, multimodal text, creativity, education through fiction .
synoptic approach
Taking stock of how translation redefines text/image for young readers.
synchronic approach
Contributing to a transnational approach to children’s literature (i.e. investigating translation flows, translation policy, and the role of the various agents involved in translation: institutions, agents, translators, publishers, critics, and other important mediators, like teachers or promoters of creative industries).
